One year ago, I get knee injury when I play football. Until now, this injury not cured. I try come to doctor, therapist and masseur but is not working well. My knee is unstable. The doctor and therapist said that I get Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury.
This injury makes my sad… My hobby is adventure and doing some sport like football, running and basketball. Injury in knee makes me want to retire to doing my hobbies.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a cruciate ligament which is one of the four major ligaments of the human knee. In the quadruped stifle (analogous to the knee), based on its anatomical position, it is also referred to as the cranial cruciate ligament.
The ACL originates from deep within the notch of the distal femur. Its proximal fibers fan out along the medial wall of the lateral femoral condoyle. There are two bundles of the ACL—the anteromedial and the posterolateral, named according to where the bundles insert into the tibial plateau. The ACL attaches in front of the intercondyloid eminence of the tibia, blended with the anterior horn of the medial meniscus. These attachments allow it to resist anterior translation and medial rotation of the tibia, in relation to the femur.
At the time of the injury, I hear a sound as if something is broken in the hinge. I suddenly felt ‘lost power’ and fell. Sometimes after a while, I can walk again but limping, knee hinges difficult to move because of pain, followed by swelling. Occasionally, 1-2 week after the injury, I can run as usual. This situation does not mean that the ACL healed. In the development, I will feel that the knee is not stable, easy to ‘shake’ and often there is pain. Until now, I feel my left knee is unstable.
Most ACL ligament injury requiring surgery Arthroscopy, so patients can recover as usual. Arthroscopy ACL Reconstruction operating standards that we use are Arthroscopic Double Bundle ACL Reconstruction. This surgery needs a lot of money.
I hope my knee getting better, I crave to play football and basketball…
